Legal Structure
Through alignment with the Louisiana Department of Education and the Ascension Parish School Board, CCSLA ensures that all students receive a high-quality, standards-based education in a supportive and structured environment. CCSLA is in alignment with and follows:
Louisiana Department of Education Regulations
Annual Registration: CCSLA submit enrollment and school info yearly via the online attendance submission form.
Notice of Enrollment: We provide written notice within 10 days of enrollment to the public school a student recently left.
Curriculum & Hours: We complete state curriculum to qualify as a micro-school.
Attendance Tracking: We keep records of attendance, though these are not submitted to the state. They are submitted to the Ascension Parish school board.
Instructions: We utilize Louisiana student standards for core subjects; utilized state-approved curriculum frame work.
Brumfield vs. Dodd: CCSLA admits that students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the organization. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs, and other organization-administered programs.
Ascension Parish School Board Standards
Support Practices: While CCSLA aligns with Ascension Parish School Board standards, we also incorporate our own supportive practices to meet the unique needs of our students.
Support Services: We follow Ascension Parish guidelines for Support Services such as IEP’s, RTI, Mental Health and counseling support, and behavioral intervention plans and refer students to services as needed.
Health and Safety Standards: We align with policies that protect student-well-being, including: School safety protocols and emergency preparedness, bullying prevention and reporting procedures.
Teacher and Instructional Quality: CCSLA supports standards aligned with certified and highly qualified educator and paraprofessionals, ongoing professional development, instructional best practices and evaluations.
Grading and Promotion Policies: We follow parish and state guidelines for grading scales and report cards, promotion and retention criteria, and graduation requirements for high school students.
